    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY A sharp, fast-talking political drama that swaps explosions for tension you can cut with a knife. The Diplomat follows Kate Wyler, a career diplomat suddenly dropped into the role of US Ambassador to the UK just as an international crisis kicks off. It’s part marriage drama, part geopolitical chess match, with backroom deals, public pressure, and one very complicated relationship at the centre of it all. THE PROS Keri Russell is brilliant—smart, messy, and constantly one step away from losing patience with everyone in the room. The writing is quick and biting, with dialogue that actually feels like people who know what they’re doing talking under pressure. Rufus Sewell steals scenes as her husband Hal, walking that perfect line between charming and completely untrustworthy. It’s tense without needing constant action. THE CONS It can get a bit dialogue-heavy, especially if you’re not in the mood to keep up with political jargon and fast exchanges. Some of the plot threads feel like they’re building toward something bigger that takes a while to fully land, and if you’re expecting big action set pieces, this isn’t that kind of show.
