⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is sent to Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for outcasts, after a piranha-related incident at her old school. While navigating the pained social hierarchy of psychics and werewolves, she discovers a burgeoning psychic ability of her own. In Season 2, which hit Netflix in late 2025, Wednesday returns to Nevermore to face a new stalker and a series of even darker mysteries. With Principal Weems gone and a new authority figure, Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi), taking charge, Wednesday must protect her roommate Enid and stop a supernatural threat that has deep ties to her own family’s pained history. THE PROS This is a great series because Jenna Ortega’s deadpan performance is a total highlight; she captures the character’s cold, cynical energy with a sincere and magnetic edge. It hits an 8 because Tim Burton’s gothic fingerprints are all over the production, making Nevermore feel like a lived-in, honest world of monsters and misfits. The second season is amazing for amping up the horror and moving the production to Ireland, which provides a much more pained and atmospheric backdrop for the school. Having Lady Gaga join the cast for the 2025 episodes was a smart move that added a fair shout of extra mystery, and the dynamic between Wednesday and Thing remains the most sincere "friendship" on the site. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the "YA mystery" elements can feel like a bit of a slog for those who wanted a more traditional, adult Addams Family vibe. It misses a higher mark because the love triangle in the first season was an honest head-scratcher and felt a pained bit out of place for someone as antisocial as Wednesday. While the second season fixes some of this by focusing more on horror, the pacing can still drag during the teen drama subplots. The decision to split Season 2 into two parts was a fair shout for frustrating, leaving fans waiting months for a conclusion that could have been tighter if released all at once. THE VERDICT 8/10. A stylish, smart, and delightfully dark reimagining of a classic. It’s an amazing result for Netflix and a great series for anyone who likes their high school drama with a side of murder and mystery.
