


Isaach de Bankolé, originally from Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire, has established himself as a compelling figure in the film industry, known for his captivating performances across a multitude of roles. Raised in a family of Yoruba descent, with roots tracing back to Nigeria, his rich cultural background has profoundly shaped his artistic perspective, enriching the narratives he brings to life on screen.
His journey into the world of acting began in Paris after he moved there in 1975 to pursue his education. Initially focused on physics and mathematics, de Bankolé’s path took a dramatic turn when he met French filmmaker Gérard Vergez. This pivotal encounter opened the door to his passion for acting, leading him to the prestigious Cours Simon drama school, where he honed his craft.
