⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Set in Glasgow, this six-part drama follows the volatile Ruben (Richard Gadd) and the timid Niall (Jamie Bell), two men whose bond was forged in a pained, shared childhood. When Ruben unexpectedly crashes Niall’s wedding, the reunion triggers a visceral explosion of violence that sends the story spiraling back through thirty years of their history. It’s a gritty exploration of brotherhood, examining how shared trauma and the pained silence of repressed masculinity can turn children into broken, dangerous adults. THE PROS Richard Gadd follows up his previous work with an honest, bruising look at toxic relationships that feels entirely "un-AI" in its raw intensity. It hits an 8 because the chemistry between Gadd and Jamie Bell is electric; Bell brings a pained, gentle vulnerability to Niall that perfectly offsets Ruben’s visceral, ticking-time-bomb energy. The series is an epic study of male identity, using a punchy non-linear structure to show exactly how their quasi-fraternal bond fractured over three decades.
