⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Mal is cracking under the pressure of being King Ben’s perfect royal girlfriend. She ditches Auradon and heads back to the Isle of the Lost to find her roots, but she discovers her old rival Uma (Ursula’s daughter) has taken over the turf. Uma is bitter about being left behind and kidnaps Ben to force Mal to hand over the Fairy Godmother’s wand. Mal and the crew have to go back to their "rotten" ways to save the King before Uma breaks the barrier and lets the villains loose. THE PROS Uma is an epic addition to the cast. China Anne McClain brings a punchy, pirate energy that makes her a way more interesting rival than Audrey was in the first film. "What’s My Name" is a total belter and arguably the best song in the whole franchise. The costumes and sets on the Isle look grittier and more vibrant than before. It’s a win because it explores the "Villain Kid" identity much better than the original, showing that life in Auradon isn't a perfect fix for everyone. THE CONS The pacing can feel a bit sluggish during the romance scenes between Mal and Ben. The final dragon vs. sea monster battle is a bit of a damp squib visually—the CGI looks a bit thin and awkward. It misses a 9/10 because the "love is the answer" resolution feels a bit too easy given how much tension was built up between the two factions. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a total recommendation for fans of the first one. It’s a belter for the music alone. Go and watch it for the sword-fighting dance numbers—they’re better than the original. THE SUMMARY
