⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY In the freezing port city of Vladivostok, the shadow war between North and South Korea reaches a boiling point. South Korean NIS Manager Zo is hunting an international crime syndicate involved in drug and human trafficking, while North Korean state security officer Park Geon is investigating a mysterious breach. Their paths collide over Chae Seon-hwa, a waitress at a North Korean restaurant who becomes a valuable human intelligence asset. As duty clashing with personal loyalty turns into a desperate survival mission, the two rival agents find themselves in an unlikely alliance against a corrupt North Korean consul. THE PROS The action is punchy and essentially turns into a "John Wick" style spectacle in the final act. Director Ryoo Seung-wan proves he’s a master of the genre, delivering some of the best "heroic bloodshed" choreography in recent memory. The chemistry between Zo In-sung and Park Jeong-min is a win, evolving from a cold rivalry into a gripping "bromance" that carries the emotional weight of the film. It’s a good movie because it uses the bleak, snowy backdrop of Vladivostok to create an epic, neo-noir atmosphere that feels both grounded and cinematic. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the first thirty minutes can feel slightly sluggish while it sets up the complicated political landscape and character motivations. The plot is a bit of a damp squib when it comes to the spycraft elements—it’s much more of an action-thriller than a deep, cerebral espionage drama. It misses the 9/10 mark because it relies on a few "cheesy" lines and some predictable clichés, particularly regarding the romantic subplots and the cartoonishly evil villain. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a total recommendation for anyone who loved 'The Berlin File' or 'Escape from Mogadishu'. It’s a winner for the blistering gunfights and the genuine humanity shown by the leads. Go and watch it for the staircase fight—it’s quality.
