⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Quick Draw Mike is a mob enforcer trying to quietly exit the life with his secret lover, Alice. The problem? Alice is the wife of his best friend and hitman mentor, Nick. Just as they’re about to bolt, Nick shows up at Mike’s door for "one last job"—kidnapping a man who turns out to be another Nick. It turns out "Future Nick" has traveled back in time to stop "Present Nick" from a revenge plot involving a cannibal assassin named The Barron. Now, Mike, Alice, and both Nicks have to survive a night of time-bending chaos, mob parties, and shifting loyalties to set the timeline straight. THE PROS This is a total win for anyone who likes their crime thrillers with a side of "what just happened?" BenDavid Grabinski delivers a proudly bonkers R-rated mashup that feels fresh and punchy. Vince Vaughn playing two versions of himself is epic status; his fast-talking banter with James Marsden’s "Quick Draw" Mike is quality comedy that never misses. Eiza González is a winner as Alice, bringing a lethal edge to the love-square, and Ben Schwartz’s cameo as the time-machine-building scientist is pure quality. It’s an 8/10 because it uses its sci-fi gimmick as a tool for action rather than a lecture on physics, keeping the energy high and the jokes sincere. THE CONS It misses a 9/10 because there’s a slight lull in the middle act once all four title characters are stuck in a room together trying to figure out the plot—the pacing feels slightly sluggish for about ten minutes. While the time-travel rules are simple, some of the mob subplots with Sosa and Jimmy Boy feel a bit like a damp squib compared to the "Nick vs. Nick" madness. It earns an 8/10 because the "cannibal assassin" trope feels a bit quality-deficient and over-the-top, even for a movie this wild. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and highly recommended for a fun night in on Hulu. It’s a winner for the Vaughn/Marsden chemistry and the stylized action. Go and watch it for the "Oliver & Company" opening—it’s quality.
