⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Tova Sullivan is a widow who likes to keep busy, spending her nights mopping the floors of the Sowell Bay Aquarium to quiet the grief of losing her son decades ago. She thinks she’s alone in her routine until she meets Marcellus McSquiddles—a giant Pacific octopus with a genius-level IQ and a very low opinion of humans. As Marcellus nears the end of his life, he decides to help Tova solve the mystery of what really happened to her son, forming an unlikely bond with her and a wayward young man named Cameron. It’s a beautifully quiet, whimsical, and deeply moving story about the secrets we keep and the connections that find us when we least expect it. THE PROS This is a 9/10 because it pulls off the impossible: making a friendship between a 70-year-old woman and an octopus feel like the most natural thing in the world. Sally Field is flawless as Tova, bringing a dignified, stoic warmth to a woman who is literally cleaning up her past. But the real "Epic" factor here is Alfred Molina as the voice of Marcellus; he’s grumpy, arrogant, and incredibly endearing, turning a CGI mollusk into the best character of 2026. It hits the top marks because it avoids the usual "sentimental mush," choosing instead to be sharp, funny, and genuinely clever with its mystery. It’s a winner for its pacing, balancing the "languid burn" of a coastal town with the ticking clock of Marcellus’s final days.
