Every month, the residents are randomly reassigned to a new level, shifting the power dynamic from gluttony to starvation instantly. Goreng (Ivan Massagué) enters voluntarily for a degree, but he quickly finds himself in a gritty struggle for survival where the only choice is to eat, be eaten, or try to change a pained, broken system. THE PROS This is an absolute win for high-concept horror. It hits an 8 because the premise is a sincere, biting social commentary that feels visceral and honest. Ivan Massagué gives a pained, brilliant performance as he transforms from an idealistic bookworm into a hollowed-out survivor. The tension is a banger—every time the platform moves, the dread is thick enough to choke on. It’s an epic piece of world-building that uses a single, gritty location to tell a massive story about human greed and the pained reality of "trickle-down" mechanics. The practical effects are pained and disgusting in the best way, making the stakes feel incredibly real. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the ending is a bit of a "head scratcher" that leans more into pained symbolism than a concrete resolution, which might frustrate those looking for a clear answer.
