    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Macau is rocked by a near-perfect crypto-heist worth billions, executed by a ghost-like crew that has somehow blinded the city’s high-tech AI surveillance system. Desperate, the police bring Wong Tak-chong (Jackie Chan) out of retirement—a legendary surveillance expert who favors old-school binoculars and gut instinct over algorithms. He’s tasked with hunting down the mastermind known as "The Shadow," a former intelligence officer named Fu Lung-sang (Tony Leung Ka-fai) who leads a team of five adoptive sons. It’s a tense, high-stakes cat-and-mouse game where the streets of Macau become a chessboard for two titans of the industry trying to outmaneuver each other’s legacies. THE PROS Seeing Jackie Chan and Tony Leung Ka-fai share the screen again is epic status. Jackie finally embraces his age here, playing a character who relies on his brain as much as his brawn, though he still pulls off some punchy, gritty stunts without a double. Tony Leung is a winner as the villain—he brings a cold, wolf-like ferocity that makes him a genuine threat. It’s an 8/10 because the "dinner scene" between the two, where they both know who the other is but have to play it cool, is pure quality cinema and arguably the best scene in the movie. The mentorship bond between Jackie and rookie officer He Qiuguo (Zhang Zifeng) is sincere and gives the film its heart, while the location shooting in Macau looks stunning and high-budget. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because at 140 minutes, the runtime is a bit of a marathon and the pacing can feel slightly sluggish during the technical setup of the surveillance teams. While the sons are quality, their backstory feels a bit quality-deficient; they are mostly used as fodder for the action scenes and their eventual fates don't land as hard as they should. It misses a 9/10 mark because the finale feels a bit rushed compared to the slow-burn tension of the rest of the film, and the "AI vs. Old School" theme is a bit of a damp squib that gets dropped halfway through in favor of a standard shootout. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and highly recommended for fans of classic Hong Kong-style thrillers. It’s a winner for the legendary lead duo and the tense atmosphere. Go and watch it for the Macau Tower chase—it’s quality action. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Reprising the Shadow: This film is actually a remake of the 2007 classic 'Eye in the Sky'. In a quality bit of meta-casting, Tony Leung Ka-fai reprises the role of the criminal mastermind, playing a character almost identical to the one he played nearly 20 years ago in the original. • Real Props Only: Staying sincere to his character’s "anti-tech" stance, Jackie Chan insisted on using real vintage surveillance equipment from the 80s and 90s on set, refusing to use "hollow" plastic props for his character's toolkit. • K-Pop Cameo: The muscle of the heist crew, Hu Feng, is played by Wen Junhui (Jun from the K-pop group SEVENTEEN). He underwent four months of martial arts training to ensure his fighting style looked punchy and matched the intensity of Jackie Chan’s choreography. THE VIBE Like a game of chess played with real bullets. It smells like sea air, expensive cigars, and old circuit boards.
