⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY A high school science experiment goes catastrophically wrong, unleashing a zombie virus that turns a local campus into ground zero for a global apocalypse. Trapped inside their classrooms with no help coming, a group of students must use everything from lab equipment to sports gear to fight their way through the hallways. As the infection spreads through the city of Hyosan, the kids are forced to make pained choices about who to save and who to leave behind. It’s a brutal, high-stakes survival story that focuses on the raw emotions of teenagers pushed to the absolute edge. THE PROS This is a great series because it uses the school setting to its full potential, turning everyday locations like the cafeteria or the library into terrifying deathtraps. It hits an 8 because the action choreography is amazing; the zombies move with a jerky, bone-snapping speed that feels fresh and genuinely scary. The young cast is a total highlight, delivering honest and pained performances that make you care about their survival. The show isn't afraid to be gritty and sincere about the social hierarchies of high school, showing how both the best and worst of human nature come out during a crisis. It’s a smart, visceral ride that keeps the tension high for almost the entire run. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the episodes are quite long—some nearly an hour and twenty minutes—which can make the middle of the season feel like a bit of a slog. It misses a higher mark because some of the logic regarding the "half-bies" (hybrids) can be a bit of a head-scratcher and feels a little inconsistent to suit the plot. A few of the secondary subplots, like the one involving the influencers or the politicians outside the school, aren't nearly as gripping as the students' struggle and sometimes pull focus away from the main action. While the ending is emotional, some viewers might find the cliffhanger for the next season a pained wait for answers. THE VERDICT 8/10. A brutal, fast-paced, and surprisingly emotional take on the zombie genre. It’s amazing for fans of *Train to Busan* or *Kingdom* who want a modern, high-energy survival thriller. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • To make the zombie movements look truly "inhuman," the production hired a professional contortionist and a dance choreographer to train the hundreds of background actors in the specific "bone-breaking" style seen on screen.• The "green" school uniforms were a deliberate choice by the director to make the red blood of the zombies pop more on camera, creating a stark visual contrast during the chaotic hallway fights.• Most of the school scenes were filmed on a massive, four-story set built specifically for the show, allowing the actors to actually run through the hallways and climb the exterior walls in real-time. THE VIBE Like a fire alarm that won't stop ringing. It smells of floor wax, copper blood, and the metallic tang of a heavy locker door.
