    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY This adult animated epic breathes new life into Greek mythology, following Heron (Derek Phillips), a commoner who discovers he is the bastard son of Zeus. In the final season, released in May 2025, the stakes reach a pained, apocalyptic peak as the ancient Titan Typhon is unleashed upon Olympus. Heron and his half-brother Seraphim must forge an uneasy alliance to navigate the Underworld and stop a cycle of godly vengeance that threatens to consume both mortals and immortals alike. It’s a smart, blood-soaked retelling that trades the "white marble" clichés of Greece for a gritty, pained world of monsters and flawed deities. THE PROS This is an amazing series because Powerhouse Animation—the team behind *Castlevania*—brings a level of visceral, stylish action that is a total highlight for Netflix. It hits an 8 because the shift in Season 2 and 3 toward a more sympathetic Hades and Persephone was a sincere masterclass in character writing, making the "villains" feel honest and deeply pained. The addition of legends like Alfred Molina to the voice cast in 2025 added a fair shout of gravitas to the final episodes. It’s a great series because it respects the source material while daring to subvert it, creating a smart, cinematic experience that feels like an actual Greek tragedy come to life. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the wait between the early seasons was a bit of a slog, which pained the momentum for some longtime fans. It misses a higher mark because Heron himself can sometimes feel like a bit of a slog compared to the much more interesting and pained Seraphim. Some of the CGI backgrounds used to scale the epic battles are an honest head-scratcher and don't always match the incredible quality of the hand-drawn character animation. The final season’s pacing in 2025 felt a pained bit rushed, a fair shout for the "iced" plans for future seasons forcing the writers to wrap up massive plot threads in just eight episodes. THE VERDICT 8/10. A smart, stylish, and genuinely epic mythological banger. It’s an amazing series that proves western anime can hold its own against the giants, ending on a pained but sincere note.
