Overview

Set in a society where all men live under 'The Women’s Safety Act', meaning they are bound by a strict curfew from 7PM to 7AM every night, with their movements tracked by an ankle tag 24 hours a day. When a woman's body is discovered, brutally murdered during curfew hours and left on the steps of the Women's Safety Center, veteran Police officer Pamela Green believes that a man is responsible. But in a world where men are bound by the curfew system, her theory is rejected.

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Adapted from Jayne Cowie’s novel *After Dark*, this 2024 Paramount+ original imagines a UK where the "Women’s Safety Act" has been enacted, requiring all men over 10 to be electronically tagged and confined to their homes between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. When a woman is brutally murdered and her body left outside a Women’s Safety Centre, veteran DI Pamela Green (Sarah Parish) is convinced a man did it, despite the "infallible" curfew. As she and her rookie partner Eddie (Mitchell Robertson) dig into the case, they find a pained conspiracy where the government is willing to frame innocent women just to prove their curfew system works. It’s a smart, provocative thriller that explores a dystopian role-reversal where the "safe" world hides a pained, corrupt underbelly. THE PROS This is a great series for those who love high-concept "what if" dramas that spark a lot of pained debate.
