Overview

One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he's got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY If you think waking up with a stiff neck is bad, try waking up 3,700 years late after the entire human race was turned to stone by a mysterious green light. Dr. Stone (2019–Present) follows Senku Ishigami, a teenage scientific genius who claws his way out of his rocky shell and decides to rebuild civilization from scratch using nothing but his 100% authentic brain and the "Kingdom of Science." It is a high-octane battle of brains over brawn as Senku reinvents everything from glass to gunpowder and cell phones in a world that has reverted to the Stone Age. It’s witty, educational, and remarkably sincere in its love for human ingenuity. THE PROS The show is the absolute business for making science feel like a genuine belter of a superpower. Watching Senku explain complex chemistry while brewing "coca-cola" or forging swords is a total win and surprisingly accurate to real-world physics. The character dynamics are witty-ly sharp, especially the contrast between Senku’s cold logic and the primitive power of the "Empire of Might." The animation is a total win, capturing the lush, reclaimed wilderness of a post-human Earth with a vibrant style that makes the 900+ archive of anime look a bit wet by comparison. It’s a sincere celebration of how far humanity has come. THE CONS It misses the 9/10 "Epic" mark because the "villains" can occasionally be a bit of a head-scratcher with their extreme motivations. Some of the secondary characters have designs that are a bit total garbage and distract from the grounded science vibe of the series. It hits a Languid Burn in the middle of certain arcs where the "recipe for science" takes a few too many episodes to complete, making the pacing feel a bit wet for those wanting more action. It’s an 8/10 because while it’s a masterfully crafted vault essential, it leans a bit hard into anime tropes that can feel a bit repetitive. THE VERDICT An 8/10. It is a sincere, witty, and 100% authentic anime that makes learning feel like a total win. It is total garbage that we have to wait so long for the "Science Future" conclusion in 2026, but the journey so far has been a genuine highlight. If you want a show that proves a "ten billion percent" success rate is possible with enough caffeine and chemistry, this is it.
