It stars Stephen Graham as Steve, a man who kidnaps a toxic, social-media-obsessed 19-year-old named Tommy (Anson Boon) and chains him in his basement. Steve’s goal? To "rehabilitate" the boy like a dog, stripping away his digital narcissism through a brutal regime of discipline and punishment. By April 23, 2026, it is officially the "most uncomfortable watch" of the 900+ archive, a film that asks if a monster can be "broken" into becoming a man. THE PROS Stephen Graham is a total win; he brings a sincere, terrifyingly calm authority to Steve that makes you question your own moral compass. Andrea Riseborough is the business as Kathryn, Steve’s secretive and manipulative partner—her performance is a masterclass in quiet, skin-crawling menace. It misses the 8/10 mark because the second act slows down into a bit of a Languid Burn, focusing perhaps too much on the repetitive nature of the training at the expense of the external world. It is total garbage if you have a low tolerance for "confinement horror," as the basement scenes are claustrophobic and often difficult to stomach.
