⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Nancy (Elisabeth Moss), Eleanor (Kerry Washington), and Mary (Claire Danes) have been inseparable for decades, their bond forged in the messy reality of their twenties. But when Nancy is found dead, the "perfect" lives of the remaining two start to unravel. As Eleanor and Mary dig into the final weeks of their friend's life, they discover that none of them truly knew each other at all. Set against a sleek, claustrophobic backdrop, this adaptation of Araminta Hall’s novel is a psychological dive into the secrets women keep from their partners, their children, and most importantly, themselves. THE PROS This is a great series because it brings together three of the best actresses working today and just lets them cook. It hits an 8 because the chemistry—loaded with history and hidden resentment—is amazing and feels entirely honest. Elisabeth Moss is pained and haunting in the flashback sequences, while Kerry Washington and Claire Danes deliver sincere, heavy performances as women realizing their entire support system was built on lies. The mystery is smart and keeps the tension high, acting as a total highlight by focusing more on the psychological "why" than just the "who." It’s a stylish, moody look at female friendship that isn't afraid to get ugly. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the pacing can feel like a bit of a slog in the middle episodes, where the show spends a lot of time on repetitive domestic arguments that don't always move the needle. It misses a higher mark because some of the "big reveals" about the characters' private lives are an honest head-scratcher and feel a bit too much like typical thriller tropes. The timeline jumps between the past and present can be a fair shout for confusing at times, especially when the editing gets experimental during Nancy's more fractured memories. While the show is visually gorgeous, the sheer amount of misery on screen makes it a heavy watch that might be too much for a casual weekend binge. THE VERDICT 8/10.
