⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARYIt actually happened. After twenty years of Bryan Cranston teasing it in interviews, the Wilkerson family returned this month for a four-part "special event" series that dropped April 10, 2026. The plot kicks off with Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) having spent a decade essentially hiding from his chaotic family, only to be dragged back into their orbit for Lois and Hal's 40th wedding anniversary. It is a brilliant, slightly meta-take on the genius child all grown up—Malcolm is now a dad himself, grappling with a daughter who is just as smart (and stubborn) as he was, while Reese and Francis have leaned into their own brands of adult dysfunction. THE PROSSeeing Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek back together is a total win. They didn't miss a single beat; Hal is still a ball of anxious energy and Lois is still the terrifying, loving matriarch who can shut down a room with a look. The show does a great job of showing that while the kids grew up, they didn't necessarily "change"—Reese is still finding ways to weaponize his cooking, and Francis has finally become the version of his mother he always hated. The writing is sharp, cynical, and surprisingly sincere when it needs to be, especially regarding Malcolm’s struggle to be a better parent than the ones he had. It’s a Masterpiece of nostalgia that avoids being a "cash-grab" by actually having something new to say about the unfairness of middle age.
