    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Rachel (Camila Morrone) and Nicky (Adam DiMarco) are exactly one week away from their wedding, but the celebration feels more like a funeral. As they arrive at Nicky’s family estate, Rachel is hit by an overwhelming, stomach-turning feeling that something horrifying is about to happen. While she tries to brush it off as cold feet, the behavior of her new in-laws—led by a chilling Jennifer Jason Leigh—becomes increasingly sinister. The closer they get to the altar, the more the reality around them begins to warp, turning a high-society wedding into a psychological fight for survival where the vows might be a literal death sentence. THE PROS The atmosphere is the standout highlight of the show; it feels like a constant, waking nightmare that earns its 7. Camila Morrone is an honest revelation, carrying the series with a pained and grounded performance that makes you feel every bit of her dread. The Duffer Brothers’ influence is clear in the pacing, which builds tension through small, creepy details rather than cheap jump scares. The musical score by Colin Stetson is epic—it’s grating and uncomfortable in the best way possible, making even a simple dinner scene feel like a threat. It’s a smart, stylish look at the "horror" of joining a new family, and the first few episodes are a fair shout for the creepiest TV of the year. THE CONS It stays at a 7 because the middle episodes can feel like a bit of a slog as the mystery stretches out a little too far. It misses a higher mark because the big twist in the second half shifts the tone so drastically that it might be a head-scratcher for viewers who liked the grounded psychological vibe of the start. The supporting characters, while played by a great cast, can feel a bit like one-dimensional horror clichés at times. Some scenes are filmed so darkly that they are an honest struggle to see, even if you’re watching in a pitch-black room. While it’s a good ride, it doesn't quite stick the landing with the same punch as the opening chapters. THE VERDICT 7/10. A tense, beautifully shot, and deeply unsettling wedding from hell. It’s a solid result for horror fans and a fair shout for anyone who wants a "Ready or Not" vibe with a lot more psychological weight. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • To make Rachel’s isolation feel honest, the director had Camila Morrone stay in a separate part of the filming location away from the rest of the cast to build a natural sense of distance and tension.• Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character was inspired by classic "evil matriarch" roles from 1960s horror movies like *Rosemary’s Baby*, which is why she often wears vintage-style jewelry and clothing from that era.• The "wedding dress" Rachel wears was custom-designed to be slightly too heavy and restrictive, physically forcing the actress to move in a stiff, uncomfortable way that added to the character's sense of being trapped. THE VIBE Like a cold sweat during a toast. It smells of expensive lilies, old wood, and the metallic tang of a hidden blade.
