    Guy Ritchie returns to his favourite playground of posh gangsters, tracksuits, and “vape-smoking” aristocrats. It’s essentially a “fish out of water” story, if the fish was a highly trained soldier and the water was filled with British drug lords and literal piles of manure.

    THE SUMMARY
    Eddie Horniman (Theo James) is a soldier who unexpectedly inherits his father’s massive country estate, only to discover it’s actually the “front porch” for a multi-million pound weed empire run by Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario). Instead of evicting the criminals, Eddie finds himself getting a bit too comfortable with the lifestyle, balancing high-society galas with “cleanup duty” for the underworld.

    THE PROS
    Kaya Scodelario is the absolute queen of this show—she’s colder than a London winter and twice as dangerous. The chemistry between her and Theo James is electric, even when they’re just arguing about land rights. The show also features Daniel Ings as Eddie’s brother, Freddy, who is a walking disaster zone in a chicken suit (literally), providing some of the most unhinged comedic relief in years.

    THE CONS
    It’s Guy Ritchie on steroids. If you aren’t a fan of fast-talking cockneys, sudden bursts of cartoonish violence, and plot twists that require a whiteboard to track, you’re going to be exhausted by episode three. At times, the “aristocrats are actually secret thugs” theme feels like it’s being beaten over your head with a silver trophy.

    THE VERDICT
    It’s stylish, violent, and deeply funny. It’s a 8/10 that manages to be more entertaining than the original movie it’s based on. If you enjoy watching posh people break the law while drinking expensive tea, this is your new obsession.

    INSOMNIAC TRIVIA
    The stunning estate used for the Horniman family home is actually Badminton House in Gloucestershire, which is the real-life seat of the Duke of Beaufort. Also, Vinnie Jones—who plays the stoic groundskeeper Geoff—was a real-life professional footballer known for being one of the “hardest” players in the game, making his role as a gentle animal lover a brilliant bit of meta-casting.

    THE VIBE
    Chaos in a tuxedo. It feels like a heist movie that forgot to end and just kept getting weirder. Best watched with a drink in hand and an appreciation for the word “bollocks.”
