    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Adam Price has the perfect life: a great job, two wonderful sons, and a rock-solid marriage to his wife, Corinne. That all shatters in a second when a mysterious woman in a baseball cap approaches him at a local football club and whispers a devastating secret about his wife. This isn't just a random encounter; the Stranger is a professional secret-destroyer who targets people with hidden lives. As Adam digs for the truth, his wife disappears, and he gets pulled into a web of blackmail, murder, and a conspiracy that goes much deeper than just one lie. THE PROS This is an 8/10 because it nails that "just one more episode" rhythm that Harlan Coben is famous for. Richard Armitage is great as the desperate father, but Siobhan Finneran steals the show as the dry-witted detective investigating a seemingly unrelated murder that eventually links back to Adam. The mystery is genuinely layered, and every time you think you’ve solved it, the script throws a curveball that resets the board. It’s a stylish, high-stakes thriller that treats the quiet suburbs of Manchester like a dangerous labyrinth where nobody can be trusted. THE CONS It misses a 9/10 because some of the subplots—specifically the one involving the teenage kids and a decapitated alpaca—feel a bit like unnecessary filler that distracts from the main hook. It settles at an 8 because, while the ending is satisfying, it relies on a few "convenient" character choices that feel a bit far-fetched if you think about them for more than a minute. It’s a great ride, but it requires a healthy amount of disbelief to get through the final reveal. THE VERDICT A solid 8/10. It’s a gripping, bingeable mystery that will keep you guessing until the credits roll on the final episode. It isn't a 9 because of the slightly messy side plots, but for a weekend watch, it’s a total winner. If you like your thrillers fast-paced and full of "I didn't see that coming" moments, this is the one for you. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Location Switch: While Harlan Coben’s original novel is set in the US, the show moved the action to Manchester and Stockport. Coben liked the "grey, moody" vibe of Northern England, which he felt added a layer of tension that the original American setting lacked.• Recurring Faces: If Adam Price looks familiar to thriller fans, it's because Richard Armitage became the go-to leading man for Coben’s Netflix adaptations, later starring in *Stay Close* and *Fool Me Once*.• The Alpaca Incident: The weird alpaca subplot was actually based on a real-life news story that one of the producers read about. They added it to the show to give the "suburban weirdness" an extra edge. THE VIBE Like a cold shiver down your spine on a sunny afternoon. It smells like damp pavement and fresh coffee.
