⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Alice Monroe (Kaley Cuoco) is an archaeologist on a dream vacation in France with her boyfriend, Tom (Sam Claflin). It’s all wine and ancient ruins until Tom leaves his seat on a train to Arles to take a phone call and simply never comes back. Stranded in a foreign country, Alice teams up with a mysterious French passenger (Karin Viard) to peel back the layers of Tom’s life. What she finds isn't just a "missing person" case; it’s a web of international human trafficking, undercover Interpol agents, and the realization that she didn't know the man she was sleeping with at all. THE PROS The European backdrop is a "Guaranteed Banger." If you can't afford a trip to Marseille or Arles, this four-part MGM+ miniseries (released February 2026) is the next best thing. Kaley Cuoco is surprisingly effective in the "desperate but determined" role, proving she can carry a gritty thriller just as well as a sitcom. The first three episodes do a fantastic job of building a "cat-and-mouse" tension that keeps you guessing about Tom’s true motives—was he a villain, a victim, or just a guy with a very complicated LinkedIn profile? THE CONS The finale is where the train completely de-rails. After three episodes of solid, grounded mystery, the show suddenly remembers it’s a TV thriller and throws every cliché in the book at the screen. The "Interpol" twist feels like it was written in a fever dream, and Alice’s sudden transformation into a tactical action hero is a bit of a stretch for an archaeologist who usually spends her time with dusty pots. It’s a 6/10 because it starts as a high-end mystery but ends like a mid-tier soap opera, leaving you with more eye-rolls than answers. THE VERDICT A 6/10. It’s "The Business" for a lazy weekend binge if you want something fast-paced and pretty to look at. It’s short (only four episodes!), which saves it from being a total slog, but the unsatisfying ending keeps it from the 8 or 9 territory. It’s essentially "The Flight Attendant" goes to France, but with about 50% less humor and 100% more human trafficking. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA Kaley Cuoco and Sam Claflin actually shot their romantic flashback scenes in Paris over just three days to capture that authentic "whirlwind" feel. Also, the series is a rare co-production between MGM+ and several European networks, which is why the cast features international heavyweights like Matthias Schweighöfer and Karin Viard. Fun fact: The "underwater" phone call Alice receives was actually filmed in a specialized tank in London, despite the show being set almost entirely in the South of France. THE VIBE Like a missed connection at a beautiful train station. It’s romantic and full of potential at the start, but by the time the train pulls out, you’re just left standing on the platform wondering what the hell just happened.
