Overview

Season 3 (confirmed for late 2026) sees DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) travel to a remote Arctic research station in Svalbard. The pained mission follows the murder of a covert British special forces member, plunging the duo into an amazing and international land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate. As of May 2026, the six-part series has wrapped filming in Scotland and the Arctic, and the site is bickering for the official premiere date later this year. THE PROS This is an amazing series because it manages to keep the pained "locked-room" tension fresh by changing the pained environment every season. It hits an 8 because Suranne Jones is a total highlight; her pained and intense DCI Silva remains a sincere anchor for the show's smart, political maneuvering. The production value is amazing—the shift from a pained submarine to the vast, icy wastes of Svalbard for the 2026 season is a sincere win for the site's visual aesthetic.
