    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Ava Silva (Alba Baptista), a quadriplegic orphan, is accidentally resurrected when a divine artifact—the Halo—is embedded in her back. She wakes up in a morgue with the ability to walk and a host of supernatural powers, only to find herself drafted into the Order of the Cruciform Sword (OCS), an ancient society of warrior nuns tasked with hunting demons. By Season 2, the stakes move from "self-discovery" to "preventing the apocalypse" as Ava and her sisters face off against the powerful entity Adriel, who has manipulated the world into a pained state of religious fervor. The series ends on a high-stakes note with Ava entering a different dimension to heal, leaving behind a pained but hopeful Sister Beatrice. THE PROS This is an epic series because it takes a "campy" comic book premise and treats it with a pained level of sincerity and heart. It hits a 9 because the action choreography is a total highlight; the "shotgun" sequences and the tactical nun battles are some of the most honest and exciting stunts on the site. Alba Baptista’s performance as Ava is amazing, perfectly capturing the transition from a pained, cynical outsider to a selfless leader. The relationship between Ava and Sister Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young) is a sincere highlight, built on a slow, pained burn that feels entirely earned. It’s a smart, stylish show that mixes pained theological questions with high-octane "boss fights," making it a fair shout for the most underrated fantasy epic Netflix ever produced. THE CONS It stays at a 9 because the first half of Season 1 can feel like a bit of a slog as Ava spends a pained amount of time running away from her destiny. It misses a perfect 10 because the "tech-billionaire" subplot with Jillian Salvius can be an honest head-scratcher and sometimes distracts from the more gripping pained drama of the OCS. The pacing in Season 2 is amazing, but the final cliffhanger is a pained gut-punch given that Netflix canceled the series before we could see the "Holy War" fully realized. While there are rumors of a movie trilogy in 2026, the lack of a traditional third season is a pained slog for fans who wanted a more direct resolution to the "Reya" mystery. THE VERDICT 9/10.
