⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Michael Desiato is a respected New Orleans judge who has spent his career upholding the law with total integrity. That all changes in a heartbeat when his son, Adam, is involved in a hit-and-run that kills another teenager. Initially, Michael urges his son to confess, but he does a complete 180 when he realizes the victim was the son of Jimmy Baxter—the city’s most feared mob boss. What follows is a high-stakes game of deception as a father uses every legal trick in the book to hide a crime, leading to a web of lies that pulls in the police, the local gangs, and the entire city’s justice system. THE PROS This is an 8/10 because Bryan Cranston is absolutely magnetic. He plays the transition from a "man of the law" to a desperate, calculating father with the same intensity he brought to Walter White, making you feel every bead of sweat as the net closes in. The show captures a side of New Orleans rarely seen on screen—gritty, authentic, and dripping with atmosphere. Michael Stuhlbarg is equally chilling as the mob boss, playing a grieving father whose quiet politeness is far more terrifying than any loud outburst. It’s a winner because it asks the ultimate moral question: how far would you go to save your child? THE CONS It misses a 9/10 because the plot occasionally relies on some pretty frustrating character choices—particularly from Adam, whose actions can feel a bit "too dim for his own good" just to keep the plot moving.
