⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Bridget has finally landed her man, but life with Mark Darcy isn't all rose petals and poetry. Her insecurities flare up when a stunning new colleague enters the picture, and a disastrous trip to Thailand makes everything worse. After a run-in with her old flame Daniel Cleaver and a stint in a foreign prison, Bridget has to figure out if she and Mark are actually a match or just a mistake. THE PROS Renée Zellweger remains a win as Bridget; her physical comedy, especially during the skydiving mishap, is top-tier. Hugh Grant is at his peak "charming posh boy" levels of villainy, making every scene he's in a laugh. The fountain fight between Mark and Daniel is epic—it’s just two middle-aged blokes having a proper, uncoordinated scrap in public. It’s a decent watch because the banter stays high and the embarrassment levels are legendary. THE CONS The Thailand subplot feels forced and drags the pacing down. The prison sequence feels like it belongs in a completely different movie and is a bit of a damp squib. It misses the 8/10 mark because Bridget’s self-sabotage starts to feel repetitive, making the middle section feel sluggish. THE VERDICT A 7/10. Decent and a recommendation for a cozy night in. It’s worth it just for the Darcy vs. Cleaver rivalry. Go and watch it for the "Like a Virgin" prison singalong—it’s peak madness. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Renée Zellweger gained 30 pounds for the role. To do it quickly, she reportedly ate a lot of doughnuts and pizza, but she worked with a nutritionist to keep it safe.• The skiing scenes were filmed in Austria. The crew dealt with actual blizzard conditions, which helped make Bridget's clumsy tumbles look more authentic.• In the original book, Bridget actually interviews the real actor Colin Firth. For the film, they kept it strictly within the fictional world of Mark Darcy. THE VIBE Like a massive hangover after a posh office party. It smells like duty-free perfume and regret.
