⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Apex is the survival thriller that finally gives us the "Charlize Theron vs. The World" matchup we’ve been craving. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the film follows Sasha (Theron), a woman looking for peace in the Australian Blue Mountains who instead finds herself at the center of a twisted human hunt. Ben (Taron Egerton), a local with a God complex and a high-powered rifle, decides to test Sasha's will to live by tracking her through some of the most unforgiving terrain on the planet. THE PROS The physical performances are 100% authentic. Charlize Theron remains a sincere powerhouse, portraying Sasha not as a superhero, but as a terrified, capable woman forced into a visceral fight for her life. Taron Egerton is a gripping surprise as the villain; he ditches his usual charm for a cold, unpredictable edge that makes every encounter feel like a genuine death trap. The cinematography captures the Blue Mountains in a way that feels regal yet terrifying, utilizing long, tracking shots that keep you pinned to your seat.
