⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Set in the sleek world of the 'New Batman Adventures', this 2003 mystery finds Gotham rattled by a new vigilante who isn't afraid to use lethal force and high-tech explosives. This "Batwoman" is targeting the illegal arms-dealing operations of the Penguin and Rupert Thorne, but Batman is completely in the dark about her identity. Bruce has to juggle his detective work with a trio of suspicious new women in his life: a feisty detective, a brilliant scientist, and a mobster’s daughter. It’s a stylish, jazz-influenced whodunit that feels like a classic noir episode stretched into a feature film. THE PROS The mystery itself is a win; it keeps you guessing by presenting several plausible candidates for the cowl, and the eventual reveal is a sincere subversion of what you’d expect. The animation is a celebratory explosion of that late-90s Art Deco style—clean, vibrant, and incredibly smooth. The chemistry between Bruce and the various female leads provides some witty banter that’s a total belter for fans of the "playboy" side of Bruce Wayne. It’s a sincere attempt to do a "hard-boiled detective" story within the animated universe, complete with a smooth, lounge-style soundtrack.
