Overview

After breaking up, Bridget Jones' happily-ever-after hasn't quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. Then her love life takes a turn when she meets Jack. ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Bridget Jones is forty-three, single again, and working as a top news producer. After a wild night at a music festival and a separate encounter with her ex, Mark Darcy, she finds herself pregnant. The catch? She isn't entirely sure if the father is the dashing American billionaire Jack Qwant or the stoic Mr. Darcy. Bridget has to navigate the chaos of "geriatric" pregnancy while keeping both potential dads in the dark until she can figure out who the real father is. THE PROS This is a win because it feels like a proper return to form. Renée Zellweger is a belter, stepping back into Bridget’s clumsy shoes like she never left. Emma Thompson steals every scene as the deadpan doctor—her dry wit is epic status. It’s a good movie because it captures the awkwardness of adulthood without feeling like a cheap cash-in. The chemistry between the three leads is punchy, and the festival scenes provide some great laughs. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the absence of Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver is a bit of a damp squib, even if the script tries to cover for it. The plot is predictable, and the "who’s the dad" trope can feel a bit sluggish toward the end.
