Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Jon Hamm steps into the legendary shoes of Fletch, the character made famous by Chevy Chase, but this 2022 reboot goes back to the high-quality dry wit of the original novels. While living in Italy, Fletch is hired to track down a stolen art collection belonging to his girlfriend’s billionaire father. When he arrives in Boston, he immediately finds a dead body in his rental and becomes the prime suspect. To clear his name, he has to navigate a gallery of eccentrics—including a germaphobic art dealer and an unhinged contessa—all while wearing no shoes and staying one step ahead of the local plod. THE PROS Jon Hamm is an absolute winner here; he brings a sincere, laid-back charm that is high-quality without ever trying too hard to copy the 80s version. The banter between him and the police inspector (Roy Wood Jr.) is top-tier and provides the film’s best laughs.
