⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Gru (Steve Carell) is back, and this time he’s juggling a growing family and a fresh vendetta. After welcoming Gru Jr.—who clearly has zero time for his dad—the family is forced into witness protection when an old rival, Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell), escapes prison with a cockroach-powered grudge. Relocated to the posh town of Mayflower, Gru tries to play the "normal" suburban dad while the Anti-Villain League experiments on a few Minions to create the "Mega Minions." It’s a frantic, neon-colored scramble of suburban espionage and the usual yellow-flavored chaos. THE PROS The voice cast remains a total winner; Steve Carell can do this in his sleep, and adding Will Ferrell as a posh, insect-obsessed villain brings some high-quality banter to the table. The "Mega Minions" are a clever addition, poking fun at the superhero genre with some genuinely funny, slapstick moments that land well. It earns a 6/10 because the animation is top-tier and the visual gags are fast-paced enough to keep the kids gripped. There’s a sincere charm to Gru’s struggle with his new son, and the heist subplot involving a teenage neighbor adds a bit of a fresh spark to a franchise that’s been running for over a decade.
