Overview

    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Set in a rugged coastal region, Devara (N.T. Rama Rao Jr.) is a fearless leader of a group of seafaring warriors who make their living by plundering ships. When he realizes their skills are being used to smuggle illegal weapons that harm his own people, he turns his back on the trade and vows to protect the seas. This leads to a massive rift with his greedy associate, Bhaira (Saif Ali Khan). Years later, the legendary fear of Devara still looms over the coast, leaving his timid son, Vara, to navigate a world that expects him to be just as lethal as his father. THE PROS NTR Jr. is the engine that makes this work. He plays both the father and son roles with distinct energy, making the transition between the legendary warrior and the nervous son feel genuine. The action on the water is a massive standout; the choreography is sharp, and the scale of the sets makes the world feel lived-in and gritty. Saif Ali Khan is a solid pick for the villain, bringing a cold, calculating vibe that balances out the high-octane energy of the leads. It hits a 7 because the first half is a total rush, setting up a brutal, high-stakes conflict that feels epic without losing its heart. THE CONS The second half is where the pacing starts to feel a bit like a slog. It leans heavily on predictable tropes, and at nearly three hours long, you definitely feel the runtime. The romantic subplot feels a bit tacked on and doesn't add much to the actual stakes of the story. It stays at a 7 because the "Part 1" cliffhanger feels a bit rushed—it wraps up just as things are getting interesting again, leaving some viewers more frustrated than excited. The CGI is hit-or-miss, looking great in the dark but occasionally a bit shaky during the big daylight sequences. THE VERDICT 7/10. A loud, gritty, and ambitious action flick that proves NTR Jr. is still one of the best in the game. It’s a solid watch for anyone who loves massive scale and brutal fights, even if the script is a bit of a marathon. A fair shout for a big-screen experience.
