⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Seven thousand years ago, ten immortal beings called Eternals were sent to Earth by the celestial Arishem to protect humanity from predatory monsters known as Deviants. After living in the shadows for centuries and drifting apart, the death of their leader, Ajak, forces them to reunite. They discover that their true mission isn't just protection—it's to facilitate the "Emergence," a cosmic birth that will destroy Earth to create a new Celestial. The team is split between loyalty to their creator and their love for the humans they’ve lived alongside since the dawn of time. THE PROS Chloé Zhao brings a quality, naturalistic look to the MCU that feels grounded and epic status; the sunset shots and real-world locations are a winner. The cast is punchy and diverse, with Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo providing some much-needed humor and Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos giving the movie a sincere emotional heart. It’s a 7/10 because it takes a massive swing at high-concept sci-fi, exploring themes of faith and morality that most superhero films avoid. The final battle on the volcanic island is quality, especially Makkari’s superspeed which is the best it's ever looked on screen. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because the massive runtime can feel sluggish, especially with frequent flashbacks that break the momentum of the modern-day plot. The Deviants are a bit of a damp squib—they’re mostly generic CGI beasts that aren't nearly as interesting as the internal conflict within the team. It misses an 8/10 mark because trying to introduce ten new main characters in one movie makes some of them feel quality-deficient in terms of development. The twist with Ikaris is a winner for the drama, but the pacing to get there stutters. THE VERDICT A 7/10. Decent and highly recommended if you want a superhero movie that feels more like a cosmic myth. It’s a winner for the visuals and the unique tone. Go and watch it to see the scale of the Celestials—they’re quality. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Silent Power: Lauren Ridloff, who plays Makkari, is the first deaf superhero in the MCU. To help her with timing during action scenes, the crew used a "light-based" cue system so she would know exactly when to start her stunts without needing to hear "action."• Natural Light: Director Chloé Zhao insisted on filming during "golden hour" whenever possible, which meant the crew often only had a 20-minute window each day to capture the film’s most iconic, glowing shots.• Space Recipes: In the scenes aboard the Domo, the ancient holographic star charts actually contain a hidden "sushi recipe" in the digital noise—a cheeky nod from the VFX team to the industry's longest-running easter egg. THE VIBE Like a history museum at dusk. It smells like ancient sand, sea salt, and expensive sandalwood incense.
