⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 4/10 THE SUMMARY Luke Hemsworth stars as Colonel Lee Gunner, a hardened war vet who just wants to reconnect with his two sons on a quiet camping trip in the mountains. Naturally, they stumble onto a massive drug lab run by a violent gang, and when Gunner’s boys are kidnapped, he goes full "one-man army" to get them back. Morgan Freeman pops up as a kingpin running the show from behind bars, and Mykel Shannon Jenkins plays the main muscle standing in Gunner’s way. It’s a standard, back-to-basics revenge thriller that feels like it fell straight out of the 90s action bin. THE PROS Luke Hemsworth is a winner here; he clearly took the role seriously and brings a sincere, rugged physicality to the fight scenes. He’s got that Hemsworth grit and carries the lead role with a high-quality intensity that makes you wish he had a better script to work with. It earns a 4/10 because some of the hand-to-hand combat is actually quite decent and feels honest, avoiding the over-stylized fluff of bigger blockbusters. Morgan Freeman, even in a very brief role, adds a touch of class to the proceedings, and seeing him play a villainous kingpin is a bit of a legendary shout for fans of his career. THE CONS It lands a 4/10 because the production values are a total clanger; the CGI explosions and muzzle flares look incredibly cheap and quality-deficient, which really pulls you out of the tension.
