⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Dracula and his monster crew are completely burnt out from running the hotel, so Mavis surprises her dad with a luxury monster cruise vacation. Drac is reluctant at first but quickly changes his tune when he falls head over heels for the ship's mysterious human captain, Ericka. What Dracula doesn't realize is that Ericka is actually the great-granddaughter of his archenemy, Abraham Van Helsing, who has spent his entire life trying to wipe monsters out. It becomes a chaotic race to see if Drac can handle his feelings before the cruise turns into a deadly trap. THE PROS The animation style remains wonderfully zany, packed with Genndy Tartakovsky’s trademark high-energy slapstick and expressive character movements that look like a classic cartoon come to life. The voice cast is having an absolute blast, with Adam Sandler's goofy Dracula accent carrying the humor and Selena Gomez keeping things grounded as the protective daughter. The cruise ship setting gives the franchise a fresh visual playground, leading to some hilarious sequences involving giant krakens, monster volleyball, and deep-sea scuba diving. THE CONS The plot is incredibly predictable from the word go, hitting every single standard rom-com misunderstanding cliché without offering anything truly new to the genre. The humor relies much more heavily on silly fart jokes and loud noises than the previous entries, making it feel geared entirely toward very young kids while leaving adults with fewer clever gags. THE VERDICT A solid 6/10. It is a colorful, fast-paced, and completely harmless animated comedy that will easily keep the kids quiet on a rainy afternoon. It gets a 6 because the visual style is incredibly inventive and the vocal performances are full of life. It misses out on a higher score because the story feels completely on autopilot, but it remains a fun, easy watch that does exactly what it says on the tin.
