Overview

Forced into hard labor at a coal mine to support his family, Ip Man eventually catches the eye of General Miura, a Japanese Karate master who stages duels between his soldiers and Chinese martial artists for bags of rice. After witnessing the brutal death of a friend, the calm master finally snaps, stepping into the arena to unleash the true power of Wing Chun and ignite a spirit of resistance across his occupied home. THE PROS Donnie Yen delivers a career-defining performance that is absolute business; his portrayal of Ip Man as a sincere, soft-spoken gentleman who becomes a whirlwind of speed is epic status. The fight choreography by Sammo Hung is pure quality, ditching over-the-top wirework for a grounded, lightning-fast style that makes every chain punch feel dangerous.
