⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY This 2019 entry is a sincere love letter to the fans of the original Justice League Unlimited series, bringing back the iconic art style and several legendary voice actors. The plot follows a time-traveling trio from the Fatal Five who arrive in the present day to spring their remaining members from a high-security cell. To stop them, the League has to team up with Star Boy—a powerful but mentally fragile hero from the future—and Jessica Cruz, a Green Lantern struggling with intense anxiety and self-doubt. It is a more intimate, character-driven story that focuses on the internal battles of its newest heroes as much as the external ones. THE PROS The return to the Bruce Timm animation style is an absolute win; it feels like slipping into a comfortable pair of boots that still look incredibly sharp. The focus on Jessica Cruz is a total belter; her struggle with her power ring and her own mental health is handled with sincere care, making her one of the most relatable Lanterns we've seen. The Fatal Five themselves are a celebratory explosion of old-school comic menace, providing a genuine threat that forces the League to work for every inch of ground. It is an outstanding example of how to use "super" stories to talk about very human issues like courage and resilience.
