⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Eggsy is a street-smart kid from a rough London estate who’s heading nowhere fast until he discovers his late father was actually a super-spy. He’s recruited by the suave Harry Hart into the "Kingsman," an elite, secret intelligence agency that operates out of a posh tailor shop on Savile Row. While Eggsy survives a brutal training program designed for posh snobs, a lisping tech billionaire named Richmond Valentine is planning to "cull" the world's population using free SIM cards. It’s a riotous mix of bespoke suits, high-tech gadgets, and absolute carnage. THE PROS This is a total win for anyone who thinks modern spy movies have become a bit too serious and moody. Colin Firth is a belter as Harry Hart—watching Mr. Darcy turn into a lethal killing machine is a celebratory explosion of "didn't see that coming." The church fight sequence is epic status; it’s a masterclass in hyper-violent choreography set to "Free Bird" that’ll leave you grinning and exhausted. It’s highly recommended because it manages to be a sincere love letter to classic Bond while also being a punchy, foul-mouthed subversion of the whole genre. Samuel L. Jackson is a standout as a villain who literally can't stand the sight of blood. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because, while a belter, some of the humor—especially that one joke at the very end involving a Swedish Princess—is a bit of a head-scratcher and feels a tad juvenile even for this movie. The pacing can feel a sincere bit sluggish during the mid-section training montages, which go on just a couple of minutes too long. It misses the 9/10 mark because the CG in the final "head-popping" sequence looks a bit like a cartoon, which takes some of the grit out of the stakes, but it’s still a good movie to switch your brain off to. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a total recommendation if you want your action with a side of "proper British" attitude. It’s a vault essential that proved you can wear a double-breasted suit and still kick absolute doors down. Go and watch it for the "Manners Maketh Man" scene and the umbrella gadgets—it’s brilliant. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Training To Be Classy: Taron Egerton had to bulk up significantly for the role, but he also had to take etiquette classes to make sure he looked natural in a £5,000 suit. He went from "tracksuit" to "tailored" in record time.• Mark Hamill's Cameo: Mark Hamill plays Professor Arnold in the movie. In the original comic book, Professor Arnold is actually Mark Hamill himself, so having the real actor play a character with the same name was a cheeky nod for the fans.• One-Take Wonder: The famous church fight took six months to plan and 20 days to film. While it looks like one continuous shot, it’s actually several clever stitches—but Colin Firth did about 80% of his own stunts for it. THE VIBE Like a pint of Guinness served in a crystal glass. It smells like expensive cologne, gun smoke, and shoe polish. It makes you want to buy a high-end umbrella, learn how to throw a punch without wrinkling your shirt, and realize that being a gentleman is mostly about knowing which fork to use before you stab someone with it.
