⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Scarlett Johansson stars as Lucy, a student in Taipei who gets coerced into acting as a drug mule for a terrifying mob syndicate. When a bag of the experimental synthetic drug CPH4 ruptures in her system, it doesn't kill her; instead, it starts unlocking the "unused" potential of her brain. As her cognitive capacity climbs toward 100%, she gains god-like powers—telekinesis, matter manipulation, and the ability to perceive time as a physical dimension. It’s a 90-minute fever dream that mashes a gritty revenge thriller with a psychedelic, high-speed lecture on the nature of existence. THE PROS The opening act is an absolute win; the tension as Lucy is abducted is genuinely uncomfortable and shows Luc Besson at his most effective. Scarlett Johansson is a total belter, perfectly transitioning from a terrified victim to a cold, omniscient force of nature. The visuals are a celebratory explosion of creativity, especially when Lucy begins to perceive the world as streams of data and light.
