⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Max is back, but he’s traded the V8 Interceptor for a camel-drawn wagon. After being robbed, he wanders into Bartertown—a post-apocalyptic trading post powered by pig waste and ruled by the formidable Aunty Entity. To get his gear back, Max strikes a deal to take down "Master Blaster" in the Thunderdome, a gladiatorial arena where "two men enter, one man leaves." When the deal goes south, Max is exiled and discovered by a tribe of feral children who believe he’s their prophesied savior, destined to lead them to the promised "Tomorrow-morrow Land." THE PROS This is a win for world-building, especially in the first half. Bartertown is a celebratory explosion of detail, and Tina Turner plays Aunty Entity like a dream. She’s an absolute standout, bringing a sincere, commanding presence and a wardrobe that’s pure 80s icon status. The Thunderdome fight itself is epic status—it’s an inventive, high-flying sequence that redefined cinematic duels. It’s a decent watch because it tries something completely different, leaning into a more "Spielbergian" adventure vibe that’s surprisingly charming. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because the shift in tone halfway through can be a massive head-scratcher. Once Max meets the children, the movie loses its gritty edge, which can feel sluggish if you’re expecting more road carnage. The PG-13 rating means the violence is dialed back compared to the first two, making it feel a bit toothless at times.
