Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant physicist who led the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos during WWII. The story jumps between the race to build the bomb, the legendary Trinity test, and the fallout of the McCarthy-era security hearings that threatened to destroy his reputation. It’s a massive, loud, and deeply sincere look at the man who changed the world forever, only to be haunted by the shadow of his own creation. THE PROS This earns its 10/10 and "Epic Status" because it is a flawless achievement in tension and sound design. Cillian Murphy is a total winner; his performance is sincere and haunting, capturing the internal struggle of a man who knows he’s giving humanity the tools to destroy itself. Robert Downey Jr. is equally legendary as Lewis Strauss, delivering a high-quality, career-best performance that anchors the final act.
