    ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior, fights to protect her tribe against one of the first highly evolved Predators to land on Earth. Raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, she sets out to prove her worth when danger threatens her camp. What she discovers isn't just a bear or a lion, but an alien trophy hunter with a terrifying arsenal. It’s a primal, stripped-back game of cat and mouse where the prey has to become the ultimate predator to survive. THE PROS This movie is a total win and a genuine belter for stripping the franchise back to its basics: survival and the hunt. Amber Midthunder is a standout; her performance is punchy and grounded, making Naru one of the best protagonists the series has ever had. The Predator design here is also a masterstroke—it looks more primitive and feral, which fits the 1700s setting perfectly. It’s highly recommended because it manages to be visually stunning while maintaining a brutal, visceral edge. The use of traditional hunting methods against alien tech is an absolute win. THE CONS It earns a 9/10 because, while highly recommended, it just misses that "epic status" 10/10 by a whisker. Some of the CGI animals—like the bear and the lion—can feel a bit hit or miss, which can briefly pull you out of the gritty atmosphere. The pacing in the middle can feel a little sluggish for those expecting non-stop shootouts, but for everyone else, the slow build-up is a masterclass in tension. THE VERDICT A 9/10. Highly recommended. This is the best the franchise has been since the 1987 original. It’s a vault essential that proves you don't need massive guns and explosions to make a great Predator movie. Go and watch it for the "mud" scene and the final showdown—it’s a belter that breathes new life into a legendary monster. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Native Roots: The film was originally pitched under the codename "Skulls" to keep the Predator connection a secret during development. It’s also the first film ever to have a full Comanche language dub available. • Sincere Training: Amber Midthunder and the rest of the cast attended a four-week "warrior boot camp" to learn archery, spear-throwing, and movement to ensure their performances looked authentic to the period. • Dog Star: Naru’s dog, Coco, wasn't actually a professional film dog. She was adopted specifically for the movie and was notoriously difficult to train on set, but the director loved her energy so much they kept her in the final cut. THE VIBE Like a cold morning in the wilderness where you’re being watched by something you can't see. It smells like pine needles, wet fur, and woodsmoke. It makes you want to sharpen a hatchet, stay downwind, and realize that "if it bleeds, we can kill it."
