⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Nikki is a retired Special Forces soldier who has spent years away from her daughter, Chloe, while serving overseas. Now back home and trying to build a quiet life, her world is shattered on Chloe’s 16th birthday when the girl is kidnapped by a ruthless human trafficking syndicate. Nikki snaps back into "war hero" mode, tearing through the criminal underworld to find her child while being hunted by both the police and the military. As she eludes her former commander and a corrupt police captain, Nikki’s mission becomes a race against time and her own deteriorating mental state in a city that has become her new battlefield. THE PROS Milla Jovovich is quality here; even at 50, she’s still an absolute powerhouse in the action genre. She brings a grounded, gritty intensity to Nikki that feels far more sincere than her 'Resident Evil' days. Directed by Adrian Grünberg (who did 'Rambo: Last Blood'), the film doesn't shy away from the brutality of its subject matter, making the stakes feel heavy and real. It’s a 7/10 because the action is punchy and visceral, especially the close-quarters combat scenes. Matthew Modine brings some needed gravitas as Nikki’s former commander, and the film’s exploration of a soldier’s trauma adds a layer of depth you don't usually get in a 'Taken' style clone. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because it wallows in some pretty generic revenge-thriller tropes that we've seen done a thousand times before. The villains, while loathsome, are a bit of a damp squib—stock "bad guy" archetypes with names like "The Chairman" who don't have much personality. The pacing can feel slightly sluggish in the middle act as the police investigation subplot drags on, taking the focus away from Nikki’s hunt. It misses an 8/10 mark because of a late-stage plot twist regarding Nikki's memory that feels a bit quality-deficient and more like a gimmick than a clever narrative choice. THE VERDICT A 7/10. Decent and highly recommended for Milla Jovovich fans and anyone who likes a gritty "mama bear" revenge flick. It’s a winner for the fight choreography and Milla's performance.
