When he takes on a legitimate client—a state-of-the-art robotics company—to investigate a multimillion-dollar discrepancy, the body count starts rising faster than the interest rates. Armed with specialized military training and a strictly organized lifestyle, Christian has to protect a young clerk (Anna Kendrick) while outmaneuvering a relentless government agent (J.K. Simmons) and a lethal hitman. THE PROS This film is a total win for its unique take on the action-hero trope; it treats Christian’s neurodivergence as a sincere superpower rather than a gimmick. Ben Affleck is a total belter, delivering a disciplined, quiet performance that makes the bone-crunching fight scenes feel even more impactful. The action choreography—heavily featuring the Indonesian martial art Pencak Silat—is a celebratory explosion of efficiency and grit. It’s a sincere, layered thriller that manages to balance complex financial puzzles with high-stakes gunplay, making it a good movie that respects the audience's intelligence. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the plot is a bit of a head-scratcher in the final act, relying on a series of coincidences and a "twist" that feels a tad convenient for such a grounded story. The flashbacks to Christian’s childhood, while interesting, can be a sincere distraction from the main momentum of the present-day investigation. It misses the 9/10 status because it tries to pack in about three different subplots—the Treasury investigation, the corporate fraud, and the family backstory—which makes the pacing feel a bit cluttered toward the end. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a sincere recommendation for anyone who likes their thrillers with a bit of "Rain Man" meets "John Wick" energy.
