Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 5/10 THE SUMMARY Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Megan Mullally, and Sheryl Lee Ralph headline this "senior-trip" comedy that follows in the footsteps of films like Book Club. Lou (Sarandon) is a heart surgeon who hasn't spoken to her former best mate Marilyn (Midler) in decades because Marilyn "stole" her boyfriend. Under the ruse of winning a rare six-toed cat, Lou is tricked into traveling to Key West to be a bridesmaid in Marilyn’s surprise TikTok-obsessed wedding. What follows is a mix of old grudges, male strip clubs, and a lot of forced "girls' trip" antics as they try to mend a friendship that has been broken for forty years. THE PROS The main cast is a winner; having this much legendary talent in one frame is a treat, and their chemistry feels sincere even when the script doesn't give them much to work with. Susan Sarandon is the high-quality anchor of the film, playing the straight-laced Lou with an honest, dry wit that keeps things grounded.
