Hiding in a toilet stall with two other students—the popular Mia (Maddie Ziegler) and the quiet Quinton (Niles Fitch)—she forms a trauma-bonded connection that redefines her life. The story isn't about the tragedy itself, but the messy, numb, and often confusing aftermath. Vada navigates a landscape of grief, drug experimentation, and fractured family dynamics as she tries to find a "new normal" in a world that no longer feels safe. THE PROS This is a raw and honest look at Gen Z trauma that avoids the usual "after-school special" clichés. Jenna Ortega is a revelation, delivering a gritty and deeply internal performance that captures the erratic nature of shock—one minute she's cracking jokes, the next she's staring into a void.
