Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Carol Danvers has been busy playing space cop and accidentally destabilized the Kree home world, Hala. Now, a new Kree leader named Dar-Benn is using a Quantum Band to tear open jump points and steal resources from other planets to fix her home. Because their light-based powers are entangled, Carol, Monica Rambeau, and the ever-enthusiastic Kamala Khan start swapping places every time they use their abilities. This trio of "The Marvels" has to learn to fight in sync while hopping across planets—including one where everyone sings—to stop the universe from unraveling and save the sun. THE PROS Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan is a total win; her starry-eyed energy and comedic timing are quality, and she’s the clear standout of the film. The "power-swapping" gimmick is punchy and leads to some of the most creative and fast-paced fight choreography we’ve seen in a while. The chemistry between the three leads is a winner, especially the sincere emotional payoff between Carol and Monica. It’s a 7/10 because it’s fun, colorful, and doesn't take itself too seriously. The "Flerken" sequence set to musical theater is epic status for the sheer absurdity of it—it’s pure quality nonsense. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because the villain, Dar-Benn, is a bit of a damp squib—another generic Kree warrior with a chip on her shoulder who doesn't get enough screen time to feel like a real threat. The plot can feel slightly sluggish in the middle during the "singing planet" visit, which might be a bit too much cheese for some. It misses an 8/10 mark because it feels a bit quality-deficient in its world-building; you almost need to have watched three different Disney+ shows just to know what’s going on, which can be a head-scrat—I mean, a bit confusing for casual viewers. THE VERDICT A 7/10. Decent and a breezy watch if you’re looking for a fun cosmic adventure. It’s a winner for Kamala Khan and the bizarre Flerken chaos. Go and watch it for the mid-credits scene—it’s quality bait for the future of the X-Men. This was a direct nod to a 2014 comic storyline, and the singing was performed by the actors themselves, including Brie Larson and Park Seo-joon.• Digital Dining: In the S.A.B.E.R. space station scenes, the holographic monitors feature scrolling data that—you guessed it—contains a hidden sushi recipe. The VFX crew kept the 25-year-old tradition alive for one of the most entangled entries in the MCU. THE VIBE Like a glitter-bomb in a science lab. It smells like cat nip, ozone, and teenage excitement.
