⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY Amanda Waller is back, and she’s assembled another group of "disposable" convicts for a suicide mission to the island nation of Corto Maltese. Their task is to destroy Jötunheim, a Nazi-era prison and lab that houses the mysterious "Project Starfish." Led by the weary Bloodsport and the overly patriotic Peacemaker, the team—which includes a girl who talks to rats, a man who shoots lethal polka-dots, and a giant man-eating shark—must navigate a jungle full of soldiers and a city under siege. When they realize the government they work for is hiding a dark secret about the project, the villains have to decide if they actually want to be heroes. THE PROS James Gunn taking the wheel is an absolute masterstroke; he brings his signature blend of gore, heart, and bizarre humor that was sorely missing from the 2016 original. Idris Elba and John Cena have a quality, competitive chemistry that leads to some of the punchiest action beats in the film. Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is epic status here, especially during her flower-filled escape sequence. It’s a 9/10 because it’s a total winner in terms of style—from the creative title cards to the visceral, R-rated fatalities that actually have weight. Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2 is the secret weapon, providing a sincere emotional core that makes the finale genuinely moving. THE CONS It misses the 10/10 mark because the opening "decoy" sequence—while hilarious and brutal—might feel like a bit of a damp squib for fans of the characters who get taken out in the first ten minutes. The middle section where they trek through the jungle can feel slightly sluggish compared to the high-octane chaos of the city scenes. Some of the "gross-out" humor, particularly involving Weasel, is a bit of an acquired taste that might not land for everyone. THE VERDICT A 9/10. Epic status and highly recommended for anyone who wants a superhero movie with real teeth. (The Detachable Kid) actually survived the opening beach massacre. If you look closely at the life-signal monitors in the comms hub later in the film, his icon is still blinking green.• Shark Struggles: Before Sylvester Stallone landed the role, the production actually recorded all of King Shark's lines with three other actors. None of them quite captured the "lovable monster" vibe Gunn wanted until Stallone stepped into the booth. THE VIBE Like a punk rock concert in a war zone. It smells like tropical rain, gunpowder, and old salt-water taffy.
