⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Directed and co-written by Christopher Presswell, this is a low-budget British heist thriller with a sharp political conscience. Shian Denovan stars as Sadie Baxter, a frazzled full-time carer struggling to look after her disabled sister amidst a backdrop of brutal government austerity. When a new welfare reform called "Independence Credit" threatens to ruin their lives, Sadie decides that protesting isn't enough. She recruits an unlikely crew—including a disillusioned, posh MP (Tom Knight) with a guilty conscience—to break into the Houses of Parliament and steal a "little black book" belonging to the ruthless Chief Whip. It’s Ken Loach meets Ocean’s Eleven, trading flashy gadgets for gritty, real-world desperation. THE PROS Shian Denovan is the heart of the movie, delivering a sincere and weary performance that makes you feel the crushing weight of her character’s daily struggle.
