⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY George Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite in this high-quality, sun-soaked romantic comedy that feels like a throwback to the genre's golden era. They play David and Georgia, a long-divorced couple who can’t stand to be in the same room without a row. When their daughter Lily (Kaitlyn Dever) falls for a seaweed farmer in Bali and decides to get married on a whim, the bickering exes form an uneasy truce. They fly out to Indonesia on a secret mission to "save" her from making the same mistake they did twenty-five years ago. It’s a classic "enemies-to-allies" setup set against a legendary tropical backdrop. THE PROS The star power is the absolute winner here. Clooney and Roberts have a sincere, high-quality chemistry that makes their constant banter a total banger. Watching two Hollywood legends trade insults with such effortless timing is absolute quality and worth the entry fee alone. The film hits a 7/10 because it’s an honest, feel-good escape; it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it delivers the high-quality charm and beautiful scenery you want from a vacation flick. Kaitlyn Dever and Billie Lourd provide a sincere, younger energy that keeps the story grounded. Most of the legendary tropical scenes were filmed on location in Queensland, Australia, specifically around the Whitsunday Islands, which provided an honest and stunning backdrop for the Balinese setting.• Improvised Banter: Many of the high-quality insults and bickering between Clooney and Roberts were improvised. Their real-life friendship is so legendary and sincere that the director often just let the cameras roll to capture their natural, high-quality banter.• Quarantine Casting: The production was a total win for the local economy during a time of travel restrictions. Because the cast and crew had to quarantine together, it created a high-quality, tight-knit atmosphere on set that many of the actors said made the on-screen chemistry feel more honest and sincere.
