⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War drags John Krasinski’s permanently stressed CIA poster boy back into the firing line for one last global headache. A rogue black-ops unit starts dismantling covert operations from the shadows, forcing Ryan out of retirement and into another maze of betrayals, dead drops, political nonsense, and men in tactical jackets saying things like “we’ve been compromised.” It’s bigger than the series, louder than the series, and somehow still feels like Jack Ryan accidentally wandered into everybody else’s mess again. THE PROS John Krasinski still works surprisingly well as Ryan because he plays him less like a superhero and more like a bloke who hasn’t slept properly in six years. Michael Kelly remains the MVP whenever he appears—Mike November continues to radiate “cool uncle who definitely knows how to hide a body” energy. The action is clean, grounded, and thankfully avoids the shaky-cam soup that ruins half these spy films nowadays. London and Eastern Europe give the film a proper cold-war-afterparty atmosphere, and there are a few genuinely tense sequences where the paranoia actually lands. The pacing also moves quickly enough that you rarely get bored, which in modern streaming terms already deserves a small round of applause. THE CONS It hits a 7/10 because it never fully escapes the feeling of being “Season 5 squeezed into a movie.” The plot is entertaining, but it’s also absurdly familiar. Rogue agents, buried secrets, government corruption… you can practically hear the Tom Clancy checklist being ticked off in the background. Some emotional beats feel rushed because the film keeps sprinting toward the next explosion, and the villain never quite reaches the level of menace the story desperately wants him to have. It misses the 8/10 mark because despite being polished and enjoyable, it rarely surprises you. THE VERDICT A solid 7/10. Slick, tense, and very watchable, even if it occasionally feels like prestige television wearing a fake cinema moustache. Fans of the series will absolutely eat it up, while newcomers might wonder why everybody already seems emotionally attached to one another. Not groundbreaking, but as a “dad-thriller with budget,” it absolutely does the job. THE SUMMARY
